Phase 4 is coming for Emmy: A look behind the scenes

A new compute island for the Emmy supercomputer is currently being set up in the GWDG’s Modular Data Centre (MDC). This involves the use of state-of-the-art technology which, in addition to significantly increased computing power, enables, in particular, improved energy efficiency.

The new compute island is funded by the National High-Performance Computing (NHR) programme and helps to further expand computing capacity to meet the growing demands of scientific research. This will provide researchers with a powerful tool for complex calculations and data-intensive applications in future.

The installation of the new systems also offers interesting insights into the infrastructure and technical processes in a modern high-performance computing centre. We will provide regular updates on the progress of the installation and further development steps via our social media channels.
